The security team at the Jewish Children’s Museum located at 792 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights received an email at 8:45am this morning stating there was a bomb on the premises, the NYPD reports.

Police responded to the scene immediately and evacuated the museum. After a search found nothing suspicious, staff and visitors were allowed to return to the building at 1:10pm, according to police.

DNA Info reports that Governor Andrew Cuomo visited the museum at approximately 11:30am today.

“This is one of the cruelest ironies yet in this rash of anti-Semitism that we’ve been experiencing. This is a museum that is a monument to tolerance,” the governor stated.

On Tuesday, March 7, the Midtown headquarters of the Anti-Defamation League received a similar threat over the telephone. No device was found.

According to DNA Info, hate crimes have risen throughout the city, with 100 since January 1. More than half of those crimes have targeted Jewish people.

The investigation at the Jewish Children’s Museum is ongoing.
