Internet Troll Lobs Hateful Emails At Councilman Deutsch
A hateful Internet troll has targeted City Councilman Chaim Deutsch.
The news site JP Updates reports the NYPD is investigating two mean-spirited emails sent to Deutsch’s government account over Thanksgiving weekend. The first, sent in the morning on Saturday, November 28, read “you suck.” The second email was sent later in the evening and said “Drop Dead Commie traitor.” The emails came from a Yahoo user, police told the news website.
Deutsch reported the emails to police and the case is being investigated by the Hate Crimes Task Force, according to JP Updates.
The emails were sent two days before staffers for Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz reported that someone had scrawled a hammer and sickle as well as the word “Commie” in black marker on their district office window. The next day, similar graffiti, this time reading “Democrat commie” appeared again at the district office, JP Updates reports. Cops told the news site the vandalism may be a hate crime and believe Cymbrowitz was targeted because he represents a large Russian-Jewish population.
Considering the Internet troll used the same language as the vandal and both politicians represent the same area, cops believe both acts may have come from the same person, according to JP Updates.
