The driver of a Dodge Charger turned a corner fast and hit several other cars on Rugby Road Sunday afternoon. The driver then jumped out of the car and ran away. Police were on the scene and it appears there was no one in any of the other vehicles.

A neighbor who saw the incident gave us this account,

I was looking to see if I could cross before I got the walk signal when a black car drove in front of me and through the intersection (driving south on Rugby, crossing Church) extremely fast. If anything it actually sped up and a few yards further down Rugby, it hit a slight bump in the road and went airborne a few inches. When it landed it lost control and started swerving erratically. My vision was blocked somewhat by the line of parked cars, but the next thing I saw was a spray of glass and other debris flying into the air as it hit a parked car. Within a few seconds smoke started pouring out. People were looking into the car to check on the driver and everyone was very surprised that no one was inside. Because the cars were all parked so close together there was a domino effect and one officer commented to his colleague that around 10 vehicles sustained at least some damage.

We’ve reached out to the police for more information regarding the crash.
