Fearless Juan, or Juan Sin Miedo, is a story full of chills, ghosts, monsters, spells, and a friendly character that is always afraid.

That’s how the Sunset Park Library describes a book that will be read aloud on Friday afternoon as part of a bi-lingual (Spanish / English) children’s program in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month.

Hispanic Heritage Month, which “pays tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched our nation and society,” is celebrated from September 15th to October 15th.

The story of Fearless Juan teaches children how to handle fear, and learn that some fears can be used positively, the Library says.

Friday’s program also includes balloon art and a Piñata Raffle. All ages are welcome.

Time: Friday, September 30th at 3:30pm
Location: Sunset Park Library
5108 4th Avenue, at 51st Street
(718) 567-2806

Fearless Juan will also be read in Spanish:
