South Slope Sun

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for New York City until 6pm on Tuesday, June 26. The organization says:

Avoid strenuous activity. People without air conditioning, older adults, and people with chronic health conditions are most at risk. Cooling centers will be open.

People under 5 and over 64 are especially in danger of developing heat illness, as are people with pre-existing conditions and people taking medication that disrupts body temperature regulation. Symptoms can include weakness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, shortness of breath, and disorientation or confusion.
