Whew! Here it is: the big, gruesome, Frankenstein-esque list of Fort Greene and Clinton Hill Halloween events we’ve managed to dig up from the creepy depths of Facebook, Instagram, and our inbox (thank you, emailers!). Pumpkin Carving Contest & Party
Where: The Emerson (561 Myrtle Avenue between Classon Avenue and Emerson Place)
When: Thursday, October 30, 8pm
What: It’s time to get crafty! Bring your chosen squash and tools, and give artistic carving your best shot (and maybe save the drinks for later). The best pumpkin wins a $40 tab, and DJs Saasha Foo and Russ will keep even the sorest losers dancing.
How much: Free admission

Cookie Decorating Class
Where: Brooklyn Sweet Spot (366 Myrtle Avenue between Clermont Avenue and Adelphi Street)
When: Friday, October 31, classes at 12pm, 1pm, and 2pm
What: Kids ages three to four are invited to take part in one of these yummy classes–you’ll just have to email bksweetspot@gmail.com ahead of time to save your space.
How much: $2 per participant

Flashback Friday Party
Where: Hanson Dry (925 Fulton Street between Clinton and Waverly Avenues)
When: Friday, October 31, 2pm on!
What: Bring your best old school look to this one (there is a contest), enjoy hand crafted cocktails and the good stuff on tap, and prepare to strike a pose–or four–in the bar’s photo booth.
How much: Free admission

Trick or Treating on Myrtle Avenue
Where: Myrtle between Classon Avenue and Washington Park
When: Friday, October 31, 3-8pm
What: Local businesses will be open and spreading some delicious Halloween cheer. Stop in and say hello!
How much: Free

“Beach Blanket Zombie” Halloween Party
Where: Splitty (415 Myrtle Avenue between Clinton and Vanderbilt Avenues)
When: Starting at 4pm
What: There’s face painting and makeup for kids and adults at this bash, which will also feature live surf rock by Rumblefoot and DJ’d tunes by Brian Sears.
How much: Free admission

Halloween 313’s “Nightmare on Clinton Avenue”
Where: 313 Clinton Avenue (between Dekalb and Lafayette Avenues)
When: Friday, October 31, starting at 5pm
What: This elaborate no-cost horror show, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year (!!!), is scheduled to run every half hour tomorrow through about 9pm. See the 313 site to learn more about this year’s performances, which will include original music and more–and if you’re able, help support the team with a donation to keep the show fun for years to come.
How much: Free (but you should buy a tee shirt!)

Society for Clinton Hill Halloween Walk
Where: Starting at the Pratt-Clinton Hill Community Garden (corner of Dekalb and Hall Streets)
When: Friday, October 31, 5:30-7pm
What: Join neighbors for this annual event, now in its 21st year, which offers a cheat sheet to the creepiest Clinton Hill attractions, goodies to start off costumed trick or treaters 12 and under, and a selection of food vendors for when you need sustenance besides candy.
How much: Free

Fright Night at Brooklyn Wine Yard
Where:  1114 Fulton Street (between Franklin and Classon)
When: Friday, October 31, 6pm
What: Enjoy frights, free bites, and happy hour ’til 9, plus fun like a costume contest (two Nets tickets for the winner!) and more at this recently opened venue.
How much: Free admission

Rock Candy Rye Whiskey Tasting
Where: The Greene Grape (765 Fulton Street between South Oxford Street and South Portland Avenue)
When: Friday, October 31, 6-8pm
What: Join the Grape staff to sample the newly-released Mister Katz’s Rock & Rye from the New York Distilling Company. “Rye whiskey with rock candy syrup and notes of citrus,” the store describes the spirit. “It’s like candy for adults, but not nearly as bad on your teeth.”

Spooktacular Kids’ Halloween Party
Where: A Kid’s Dream (549 Myrtle Avenue at Emerson Place)
When: Friday, October 31, 6-9pm
What: Bring the little ones for this scarily excellent event, which will feature games, food, music, dancing, and a costume contest (with spa coupons for the winners).
How much: $5

Pam Fleming’s Dead Zombie Band Performance
Where: Waverly Avenue between Willoughby and Dekalb Avenues
When: Friday, October 31, 6-9pm
What: Local trumpet player Pam Fleming will be joined by an equally talented (and, if we may say so, fashionable) crowd of undead musicians for this no-cost band bash.
How much: Free

Tarot Card Readings at Chez Oskar
Where: 211 Dekalb Avenue (at Adelphi Street)
When: Friday, October 31, 7-10pm
What: Get your cards read by “clairvoyant extraordinaire” Peri Lyons at this event, and don’t worry; if the outcome is too bleak for you, you can help yourself to Chez Oskar’s free shots from 8-10.
How much: $6/five minute reading

Shadow Puppet Theatre
Where: 16 Cambridge Place (between Greene and Gates Avenues)
When: Friday, October 31, shows at 7:15pm and 8pm
What: This annual family-run event is sure to be a favorite of kids and mythology lovers alike, as this year, neighbors will use their intricately designed shadow puppets to depict The Tale of Medusa and Perseus.
How much: Free

Putnam’s Dance Party
Where: Putnam’s Pub & Cooker (419 Myrtle Avenue at Clinton Avenue)
When: Friday, October 31, 10pm-3am
What: Catch DJ Free, DJ Misbehaviour, and more at this two floor dance extravaganza. Plus, there’s a $100 prize for best costume, a $50 prize for the Thriller Dance Contest, and more to be won.

BOOgie Down: Late Night Halloween Dance Party
Where: BAMcafé in the Peter Jay Sharp Building (30 Lafayette Avenue between St Felix Street and Ashland Place)
When: 10:30pm-2am (doors at 10pm)
What: The 21 and over crowd are invited to this party, which will feature happy hour from 10-11pm as well as music by Everett Bradley, DJ Reborn, and DJ Idlemind. Costumes are encouraged!
