Greenwood Park Nominated for ‘Best Beer Garden’ Award
Paper just announced its Nightlife Awards nominees, and Greenwood Park is on the ballot for best beer garden. Looks like this is the first time they’ve had such a category, and the other nominees include The Biergarten at the Standard, Birreria at Eataly, Landbrot Bakery & Bar, The Wick & The Well and Harlem Tavern.
The awards are fairly…clubby, and we’re wondering if Greenwood fits into that scene. Though it’s gotten complaints from neighbors about sexy rendezvous going down on nearby streets, the loudest groans have actually been from children – or at least that’s what most people are whining about. Zagat called it “relatively quiet,” and commenters on Yelp give reviews that range from “it’s not a shishi high class place” to noting that on Fridays and Saturdays soccer jerseys are not allowed.
We’ve seen our fair share of bridge-and-tunnel types as we’ve enjoyed a few beers at Greenwood, but to be on a list that also has categories for Best Megaclub and Best Nightlife Social Media Star? Seems just a little out of place.
Winners will be announced on Wednesday, October 10, so we’ll have to wait and see what kind of crowd, if any, this attention attracts.
