It’s time again for Poker with Jokers, the popular fundraiser that has players compete against comedians and performers in a Texas Hold’em tournament.  The event benefits 826NYC, the famously quirky non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students aged 6-18 in their creative and writing skills through free tutoring and workshops.

This year’s jokers include Ira Glass, Michael Ian Black, David Cross, and Eric Bogosian. The good news is it can also include you!

It’s easy: sign up online to create a player profile and upload a photo of yourself. Pay a$50 registration fee (which you will be able to bet with on the day of the tournament) and then start raising money.

The money you raise (along with the registration fee) is the only money you can use to buy chips, so the more money you raise, the longer you play, and the more likely you are to win the whole thing. Winner and runner-up both go home with trophies signed by Ira and Michael.

All money raised supports the free student programming at 826NYC. If you’d like to support the cause without actually participating in the game, you can sponsor a player here.

826NYC is located at 372 Fifth Avenue between 5th & 6th Streets; game day is Saturday February 23 at 1:00 p.m.
