Go Foraging In Prospect Park This Saturday
Prospect Park foraging

Curious about the plants in Prospect Park? Ever wonder what vegetation might be edible? You can find out this Saturday, August 1 from 12 to 2pm with Foraging For Wellness in Prospect Park.

Colette Ellis, author and wellness coach, and Tim Keating, forager and naturalist, will discuss the benefits of foraging and eating local, wild plants — in particular, the plants that can be found right in Prospect Park.

Keating will point out the variety of edible plants available in the Park and Ellis will lead walking meditations as the group explores.

“We’re hoping to give people a sense of how much is available right in front of our noses,” says Ellis. “We want it to be a mindful experience engaging all of our senses and getting reconnected with nature.”

Ellis and Keating hope to continue the conversation after foraging season is over by partnering with restaurants and doing field-to-table events in the fall and winter.

Foraging walks take place from 12-2pm on August 1, August 22, and September 19. Tickets for the walks range between $15-30 and are available here.
