Have you stopped by Heart of Brooklyn yet? The new veterinary practice run by Dr. William Farmer (formerly of the now-closed Brooklyn Veterinary Hospital on Vanderbilt Avenue) opened at 775 Fulton Street between South Oxford and South Portland Avenue last month.

To welcome their new neighbors into the office, Heart of Brooklyn is holding a low-cost health and microchipping event next Wednesday, July 23 from 10am-5pm. A physical exam and microchip implant with lifelong registration would normally run you $143.50–but at this event, your dog or cat can get seen and protected by the chip for only $85.

Microchipping is helpful if you ever let your cat outdoors or your dog off leash at the park (or we should say, as former tricky cat owners, even if you don’t). If your animal is ever lost, a vet or shelter can scan for a chip and help him or her get back home safely.

Appointments for the July 23 event are limited and must be scheduled ahead of time, so if you’d like a spot, be sure to RSVP at 718-855-7387–and keep an eye out for our interview with Dr. Farmer in the near future.
