G Tunnel Work Begins & More Local Subway Service Changes

Using the G train to get to Greenpoint and Long Island City might not be your best bet for the next couple months, as the tunnel shutdown for Sandy repairs begins this Friday night. Details on that and more to look out for this weekend via the MTA:

No G trains between Nassau Av and Court Sq
All times, 10:30pm Friday, July 25 until 5am Tuesday, September 2
G service operates between Church Av and Nassau Av. Manhattan Av shuttle buses run between Nassau Av and Court Sq, stopping at Greenpoint Av and 21 St. McGuinness Blvd shuttle buses run between the Lorimer St L stop and Court Sq, stopping near G stations at Nassau Av, Greenpoint Av, and 21 St. See the full details here.
R trains run via the D and M between DeKalb Av and Queens Plaza in both directions
Weekend, Saturday and Sunday, July 26-27
Trains run via the D between DeKalb Av and B’way-Lafayette St and via the M between B’way-Lafayette St and Queens Plaza. Trains stop at 34 St-Herald Sq. Q trains make all R stops between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and 57 St-7 Av. N trains make all R stops between Canal St and Times Sq-42 St.
No R trains between Lower Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn
All times until October 2014
No R service at City Hall, Cortlandt, Rector, Whitehall, Court Streets, and Jay Street-MetroTech. R service operates between Forest Hills-71st Avenue and Bay Ridge-95th Street. Trains run via the Q in both directions between Canal Street and DeKalb Avenue.
Additionally, look out for changes further along the 2, 4, F, N, and Q lines.
