Fresh Italian And French Food At Hugo & Sons
Looking for fresh and delicious Italian and French dishes packed with flavor? Hugo & Sons, which opened at 367 7th Avenue at the beginning of May, is well priced and has a diverse menu sure to please everyone in the family, including the kids. The restaurant features a kids’ menu with chicken nuggets, spaghetti bolognese, meatballs, and gnocchi, all for $12.
For the adults, start with the Crispy Artichokes ($13) as a starter. The artichokes are lightly fried and served with a tasty aioli sauce.
The pasta dishes are a highlight at Hugo & Sons. The handmade Pappardelle ($16) features large chunks of sweet Italian sausage and a light sauce with caramelized fennel. It is a flavorful and filling dish.
If you are looking for something a bit meatier, the Steak Frites (market price) includes a hearty slab of red meat with a béarnaise sauce and thick fried potatoes.
The Pork Braciole ($20) is another great option. The tender pork is stuffed with bread crumbs, pine nuts, raisins, parsley, parmesan, and a hard cooked egg and topped with a sweet red sauce. Hugo & Sons also features a great salad menu, including a Nicoise Salad ($15) and a Beet Salad ($13).
And for dessert, try the Zuppa Inglese ($9), a classic Italian trifle with zabaglione cream and bittersweet chocolate, with your espresso.
To wash it down, try the La Strega ($12), a tequila cocktail with strega, grapefruit, and mint. It’s surprisingly fresh and perfect for summer.
Hugo & Son’s hours are Monday-Thursday 5-11pm, Friday-Saturday 5pm-midnight, and Sunday 5-10pm.
