Free Tax Prep Assistance in Ditmas Park

If you make under a certain amount of money per year – generally around $25,000 for an individual, $50,000 for a family, plus some other specifications – you may qualify for free tax preparation services from a number of organizations. Community Board 14 has a good roundup of places that offer the free services around the city, including these local ones:

Community Tax Aid
Where: Flatbush Reformed Church
Who Qualifies: CTA will prepare tax returns for 2009-2012 for people who meet these requirements.
When: Saturdays, February 16, 23; March 2, 9, 23, 30; April 6, 13; 10am-1pm, no appointments necessary

Brooklyn College Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
Where: Brooklyn College VITA offices, 202 Whitehead Hall
Who Qualifies: This IRS-sponsored program is free to low- and moderate-income individuals, see requirements here.
When: February 11-April 18: Fridays, 12-8pm; Saturdays and Sundays, 10am-6pm; no appointments necessary
