“2 A.M. At The Cat’s Pajamas” Reading & Jazz

Where: Greenlight Bookstore (686 Fulton Street (at South Portland Avenue)
What: Writer Marie-Helene Bertino reads from her new book about Philadelphia, plus the Lapis Luna trio plays while you enjoy refreshments.

National Night Out Against Crime

Where: Fort Greene Park
What: Locals can come meet neighbors, elected officials, and officers from the 88th Precinct, as well as to enjoy food, fun, and games.

The Good Foot
When: Wednesday, August 6, 10:30pm-2am
Where: The Emerson (561 Myrtle Avenue between Emerson Place and Classon Avenue)
What: Practice your best Mashed Potato and midair splits, ’cause it’s about to get awfully funky at this weekly dance party. DJs De Vanity, Benjamin Franklin, and Max Power will be your guides.

“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” Performance
When: Thursday, August 7, 6pm
Where: BLDG 92 at the Brooklyn Navy Yard
What: See 25 local high schoolers participating in this year’s Brooklyn Summer Shakespeare-ience interpret some of The Bard’s finest work! Stick around for an act or the whole show, and catch a followup Q&A with the cast.

FAB Friday Kids Activities
When: Friday, August 8, 4-6pm
Where: Putnam Triangle Plaza (at Grand and Fulton)
What: Children four to 12 are invited to hula hoop and jump rope, make chalk drawings and crafts, play checkers and “urban croquet,” read, and much more alongside local artists and businesses.

“Celebrating Color” Exhibition
When: Saturday, August 9, 10am-6pm
Where: Pushkin Creperie Bakery (541 Myrtle Avenue between Emerson Place and Steuben Street)
What: See a selection of paintings by local artist Elisa Carreno, whose work reflects inspiration from her homeland of Brazil. No worries if you can’t make it this weekend–the installation is up through August 24.

Vintage and Designer Sample Sale
When: Sunday, August 10, 1-7pm
Where: Su’juk (216 Greene Avenue between Cambridge Place and Grand Avenue)
What: Besides deep discounts on new and vintage clothing, Su’juk will be offering a flower wreath station, free tarot card readings, and champagne cocktails. Ooh la la!
