Just when you thought it was safe to put in your earplugs.

Back in 2013, we reported that Lafayette Glass — which at the time was located at 715 6th Avenue (between 21st and 22nd Streets) — moved out to Long Island, leaving a parcel ripe for condo development.

“Our business has grown,” CEO Hillary Hulteen said at the time, “and we had to relocate the business to Lake Success, NY to support growth and new expansion.”

While that business has been up and running for some time, we can’t say the same for 715 6th Avenue.

The property is owned by 715 6th Avenue NY Corp., which bought it in September 2015 for $4.2 million. Plans have been made to build an apartment building (five stories) on the former warehouse property and also include the current two-story home next door (721 6th Avenue).

While demolition approval for the lot was granted in June of this year, the warehouse remains. A note appears on the Department of Buildings (DOB) site that states “Application Rejection Notice: Drawings Incomplete” dated November 27, 2015.

We spoke with project architect Werner Morath of loadingdock5 architecture about the application rejection notice. He said he was unaware of the notice and would have to get back to us. We have not yet received a response.

The property seems to be in a holding pattern, and we’ll update you on its progress. Don’t put those earplugs away just yet.
