For Her 9th Birthday, Neighbor Asks for Donations to Children’s Hospital

Morgan Chan is just finishing up the third grade at PS 139. She’ll be celebrating her 9th birthday on July 8 by getting a haircut, and then donating that long braid to Wigs for Kids. And instead of presents, she’s hoping her friends and neighbors will make a donation to help sick children.

“A few months ago I told my Mom that I wanted people to donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, instead of receiving gifts for my birthday,” Morgan says on her fundraising website. “She suggested I ask people to sponsor me for cutting my hair…..it is very very long!!”

“Morgan was adopted from Hunan China in 2004,” says mom Andie Miller-Chan. “She has always been aware of the pain, sickness, and suffering of other children. Your support would mean a lot.”

Her goal is $500, and you can make a donation online here. If you’re unable to use the website for payment, please contact Andie at andiesilvertown@gmail.com.

Happy birthday Morgan, and thanks for being such an inspirational kid!
