Flirt Opens New 5th Avenue Shop In South Slope

Windsor Terrace neighbors and owners of North Slope’s Flirt, Patti Gilstrap and Seryn Potter, shown above with Seryn’s 3-year-old daughter Elliot, opened their second Flirt location on 5th Avenue, between 16th Street and Prospect Avenue, last weekend. We stopped by on Monday, and are officially smitten.

Like their flagship store, located at 93 5th Avenue, between Prospect Place and Park Place, South Slope’s Flirt is overflowing with locally designed dresses, sweaters, blouses, coats and more.

There are dressing rooms in the back, so you can give anything that catches your eye a whirl,

and a wide selection of cozy hats, scarfs, gloves, tights, stockings, and other accessories to round out your outfit.

While the clothing and accessories are enough to keep you drooling for quite some time, don’t miss the fantastically quirky gift items displayed near the entrance to the store.

They’ve got everything from decorative flasks, cups, and candles,

to vintage stickers, cards and magnets.

There’s more than meets the eye at South Slope’s Flirt, too. Behind the curtain at the rear of the store is a sewing studio, where private lessons are offered at $45 an hour. Patti and Seryn, both professional seamstresses, published their first sewing book in 2011, and have been teaching Brooklyn to sew from their 3rd Avenue studio since 2007.

If you’re in the neighborhood, be sure to stop by and welcome Patti, Seryn, and most likely Elliot (who stole our heart after seeing us to the door, and blowing kisses out the window to send us off) to South Slope.
