Fire Rips Through Apartment In Sheepshead Bay

Flames ravaged a second-floor apartment building in Sheepshead Bay last night just after sundown, and neighbors caught it on Facebook live video.

Dozens of firefighters rushed to the scene at 1611 Sheepshead Bay Road around 6pm on Thursday, March 9, said FDNY. The building was near East 16th Street and the Coffee Spot Cafe.

Firefighters had the flames under control just before 7pm, said FDNY, before it spread to neighboring buildings.

Live video by Di Mka shows thick, black smoke rising from a giant blaze tearing through the second floor.

Reader Georgiy Yankulin also sent in a video of the scene.

There were no reported injuries as of Friday morning, and the fire’s cause remains under investigation.
