Festivals, Parades and Events This Weekend: Brighton Jubilee, Santa Rosalia, and More

41st Annual Brighton Jubilee (Brighton Beach)

Brighton Beach comes out to celebrate – food, rides, music. Jubilee is run by the Brighton Neighborhood Association, a non-for-profit organization, and will help fund the group’s many activities, such as restoration from Superstorm Sandy; senior, tenant, and social services; and immigration outreach. The following streets will be closed Sunday 10am to 6pm:

  • Brighton Beach Avenue between Corbin Place and Coney Island Avenue
  • Coney Island Avenue between Brighton Beach Avenue and Brightwater Court

Weekend Art Events: August 24-27 (Afropunk Fest, Joe Strummer Birthday Bash, Salsa Salsa Dance Party, Soap Box Derby & More)

  • Afropunk Fest (Fort Greene) – Saturday, August 26 and Sunday, August 27, 12pm to 10pm, Commodore Barry Park (Flushing Avenue between Navy Street & N. Elliott Place)
  • Festa Santa Rosalia (Bensonhurst) – The 42nd annual Italian-American Feast on 18th Avenue, between 68th Street and 75th Street, will continue through August 27. On weekdays, the Feast will bring delicious food, live music, rides, and carnival games to the strip from 6pm to 11pm. Weekends start earlier, with the festival running from 11am to 11pm.
  • Taste of 5th Avenue (Bay Ridge) –  5th Avenue between 73rd Street and 84th Street will be closed to traffic on Friday from 5pm to 9:45pm
  • Cortelyou Comes Alive (Ditmas Park)- Cortelyou Road between Coney Island Avenue and East 17th Street will be closed Saturday from 5pm to 11pm.
  • Summer Strolls (Park Slope) – 5th Avenue between Sterling Place and Dean Street will be closed Saturday from 5pm to 9pm. They have a huge lineup of activities, check out the schedule.
  • Weekend Walks (Brownsville) – Belmont Avenue between Rockaway Avenue and Watkins Street will be closed Friday from 2pm to 5pm.

Streets closed due to construction in Brooklyn:

  • Main Street between Front Street and Water Street will be closed Saturday from 8am to 6pm and Sunday from 9am to 6pm.
  • Vine Street between Everitt Street/Columbia Heights and McKenny Street will be closed Saturday from 8am to 6pm and Sunday from 9am to 6pm.
  • Johnson Avenue between Union Street and Broadway will be closed Friday 6am to 4pm and Saturday & Sunday 5am to 9pm.
  • Montrose Ave between Union Street and Broadway will be closed Friday 6am to 4pm and Saturday & Sunday 5am to 9pm.
  • New Montrose Avenue between Union Street and Broadway will be closed Friday 6am to 4pm and Saturday & Sunday 5am to 9pm.
  • State Street between Bond Street and Nevins Street will be closed Saturday 8am to 6pm and Sunday 9am to 6pm.
