Fatal Shooting Outside Nostrand Houses, Police Say

A 36-year-old man was fatally shot Wednesday night outside the Nostrand Houses, according to the NYPD.

Police say they received a call about the shooting just after 10pm and arrived to find Darnell Warren, a resident of the Nostrand Houses, unconscious in front of the building on Bragg Street between Avenue W and Avenue X. Warren had a gunshot wound in his back and was taken to Coney Island Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police say.

There have been no arrests and police are investigating the shooting, according to the NYPD.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and then entering TIP577.
