In 2010, Anel Kolenovic, wasted on Four Loko, was speeding down Ocean Avenue when he smashed into the car of 23-year-old teacher from Midwood named Moshe Berkowitz. Berkowitz died from his injuries. Now, three years later, Kolenovic, sentenced to serve between four and 12 years for his crimes, pleaded for forgiveness from Berkowitz’s family, according to a report in the New York Post.

Kolenovic, who ran a red light at Avenue N and Ocean Avenue before striking Berkowitz’s car, broke down in tears in a Brooklyn court room.

“The pain I caused to the family and friends of Mr. Berkowitz has been tearing me apart since it happened,” Kolenovic said through sobs in Brooklyn Supreme Court before he was sentenced to four to 12 years.

“Although nothing I can say can heal the wounds I caused, I hope someday I can be forgiven.”

Jack Berokowtiz, Moshe’s father, was satisfied with the sentence, telling the New York Post, “Justice was done.”

  1. Its a good thing his name is Anel because where he’s going that’s exactly what he’s gonna get

  2. About 6 years ago a friend of mine was also wasted and flipped his car on the belt parkway flipping the car, slamming it into the Flatbush Ave median and landing on the other side upside down. He had 3 passengers in his car. 2 died and 1 left paralyzed. My friend walked away with a sprained wrist. He was charged with 2 counts of vehicular manslaughter and DWI. He was sentenced to 3 years in prison and wound up doing 2 and a half years. To this day if you ask him he will tell you that the prison time was the least of his sorrows. It is living with what he did that is most painful.

  3. Hehehe, how clever…not! Our society seems to think that prison rape of men is funny but make a rape joke involving women and you’re an evil horrible person.

  4. The only thing this killer is sorry about is getting caught. He is a true example of sin in haste and repent at leisure. Too bad speeding, drunk driving and red light running can’t really be prevented by cameras, but they only record after the fact. Golden is right, we need more cops dedicated to traffic enforcement.

  5. victim was a 23 year old man with a good job and his whole life waiting for him.

son of a bitch driver deserves to rot in prison for all i care. him and all you other maniacs out there that want to hit the road knowing full well you’re god damn incapacitated, and can’t even drive when you’re sober.

i wish they would issue more severe penalties for idiots getting charged DUIs. maybe that would discourage putting other people’s lives on the line.
