**NOTE: Alternate side of the street parking will be suspended on Monday, October 10, and Wednesday, October 12 but meters are still in effect, according to the DOT**

Columbus Day yard sale
When: Monday, October 10 from 10am to 6pm.
Where: 616 East 4th Street between Cortelyou Road and Ditmas Avenue.
What: Off from work for Columbus Day? Check out the Kensington yard sale for some great local treasures.
How Much: Priced per item.

Free Creative Writing for Adults
When: Tuesday, October 11 at 6:15pm.
Where: Cortelyou Public Library, 1305 Cortelyou Road at Argyle Road.
What: Looking to hone your creative writing skills in a supportive environment? Or share your writing with a group of other writers? Join the New York Writers Coalition for this weekly class at the Cortelyou Library and find that writers community you’ve been looking for. (No prior experience necessary — that does sound supportive!)
How Much: Free

Participatory Budgeting Assembly for District 45
When: Tuesday, October 11 at 6pm.
Where: Flatbush YMCA, 1401 Flatbush Avenue between East 26th Street and Rogers Avenue.
What: The participatory budgeting process gives New Yorkers the power to decide how to spend tax dollars in our neighborhoods. Come out to this assembly meeting for Council District 45 to brainstorm ideas for projects that will help our schools, libraries, parks, streets, and other shared spaces. Yom Kippur In Prospect Park
When: Wednesday, October 12 from 12pm to 4pm. (Also a full day of park activities on Monday, October 10)
Where: Prospect Park, various locations including Lefferts House and the Audubon Center.
What: Catch some Fall activities in Prospect Park on a weekday including carousel rides, a race around the farm yard, nature exploration and more. See the full event listing for more info.
How Much: Carousel rides are $2, everything else is free.

Green-Wood’s Historic Trolley Tour
When: Wednesday, October 12 from 1pm to 3pm.
Where: Green-Wood Cemetery.
What: Experience ‘Hidden Gems of Green-Wood’ tour; in the 478-acre cemetery. Join expert tour guides to hear stories of Green-Wood’s permanent residents, see breathtaking views of Manhattan, and tread where George Washington and his troops fought the Battle of Brooklyn.
How Much: $10 for members of Green-Wood, $15 for non-members. Seating is limited and they say tours routinely sell out – so book your ticket in advance!

Drop The Mike Comedy Show
When: Wednesday, October 12 at 8pm.
Where: Sycamore Bar, 1118 Cortelyou Road between Stratford and Westminster Roads.
What: Female stand-up comedy close to home! Hosted by Kendra Cunningham, this month’s lineup includes Justy Dodge, Marie Faustin, Doug Smith and Ashlee Voorsanger.
How Much: No cover charge but don’t forget drinks at the bar.

Live music at the Owl Music Parlor
When: Wednesday, October 12 at 8pm (doors at 7:30)
Where: The Owl Music Parlor, 497 Rogers Avenue between Midwood and Maple Streets.
What: Check out Tredici Bacci, a 14-piece group of musicians all under the age of 30; and The Actual Trio, a swinging jazz trio.
How Much: $10 suggested donation.

Jono Mason’s record release party at Bar Chord
When: Thursday, October 13 at 9pm
Where: Bar Chord, 10008 Cortelyou Road between Coney Island Avenue and Stratford Road.
What: Check out blues legend Jono Mason with special guests.
How Much: No cover charge.

Prospect Park community input meeting: Flatbush Avenue corridor
When: Thursday, October 13 from 6pm to 9pm.
Where: LeFrak Center at Lakeside, Prospect Park.
What: Join NYC Parks at a Community Input Meeting to share your ideas about the new design for the park’s eastern edge, the Flatbush Avenue corridor.
How Much: Free

Community Board 14 meeting
When: Thursday, October 16 at 7:15pm.
Where: P.S. 249, 18 Marlborough Road between Caton Avenue and Church Avenue.
What: Join Community Board 14 for their monthly meeting, a great chance to learn more about the most important issues in the neighborhood, and voice your concerns.
