Despite Some Opposition From Neighbors, Tap Sports Bar Coming To Flatbush Avenue
Coming Soon: Tap Sport Bar, 240 Flatbush Avenue

It seems the allure of business from Barclays is strong, as a new sports bar is headed for Flatbush Avenue.

Tap Sports Bar is setting up shop at 240 Flatbush Avenue, between Bergen Street and 6th Avenue, in the space that housed Allied Orthopedics until it closed last fall. The space is situated between two other restaurant/bars, Woodland and Sugarcane — a source of concern for some members of Community Board 6, which ultimately voted to support its new liquor license during a meeting Wednesday night.

“People should be not carousing as they have,” said CB6 member Pauline Blake, who also lives near this block. “I feel we’re in overkill on Flatbush. The people in that community are suffering other indignities from Barclays, and we shouldn’t let more of that occur.”

Though 14 other CB6 members agreed and voted to oppose, the motion did carry. CB6 says the owner has agreed to some conditions they brought up at a committee meeting held earlier — namely, that though the storefront has outdoor space, they will not be using it, and they have agreed to keep the doors and windows closed.

So, what do you think? Does this block already have enough places to grab a drink, or are you looking forward to a new option?
