Design A New Mural For The Mavi Wall

Whos Your Uncle Coverup
Just before Mavi Jeans moved into the space at 205 5th Avenue, the business painted over the mysterious “Who’s Your Uncle” mural as well as the poem Desiderata by Max Ehrmann, which had been installed on the Union Street side of the building. But now they hope to put up something new, and you may be able to help.

They’re accepting new mural designs on the theme “What’s your Brooklyn?” and you can submit designs from May 12 through June 6 to A winner will be selected on June 9 by a jury that, according to Women’s Wear Daily, includes the Brooklyn Museum’s Lisa Small, and Michael Conklin, editor in chief of Brooklyn Magazine.

The winning design will be unveiled on the wall on June 21.

This bustling intersection deserves something beautiful, so come on local artists, make Park Slope proud!

  1. no one is ever in there, ever. I was hoping J Crew would take over their lease but with this news it’s highly unlikely. that said, I prefer having them on the corner than the long abandoned check cashing place. however that doesn’t say much. who shops there anyway?

  2. People really liked the mural and especially the poem that was there for years, they should have just left it alone.
