Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.

A winter storm dumped almost a foot of snow last night across the city, and while it may have stopped snowing during the night, it’s still brutally cold today. The high today will be 17 degrees, with wind chill making it feel as cold as -13 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. While schools are still open this morning, hundreds of flights were cancelled and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority is running on a modified schedule. If you’re heading out today, bundle up and submit your pictures of the storm to The Nabe’s Flickr group.

  • The lights were on last night for snow removal at Atlantic Yards and might have kept some locals up, according to The Atlantic Yards Report. The blog also reported that module construction deliveries at Atlantic Yards restarted this week.
  • It’s the battle of the bards between two theaters in Fort Greene. The Brooklyn Academy of Music and the Theatre for a New Audience, are staging productions of Shakespeare’s “King Lear,” the Brooklyn Paper reported. BAM’s production will run through Feb. 9 and stars Frank Langella, while the Theatre for a New Audience’s version will begin in March and stars Michael Pennington, co-founder of the English Shakespeare Company. Which one will you see, locals?
  • A new restaurant, Emily, opens in Clinton Hill today at 919 Fulton Street, reported Brownstoner. Named after one of the owners, the restaurant will serve pizzas cooked in a wood-fired oven, including an eponymous pizza featuring honey, Taleggio cheese, truffles and pistachio, as well as salads and a s’mores calzone for dessert.
