Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.

A winter heat wave hits the nabe today and continues through the weekend – Saturday brings a high of 42 and Sunday will warm up near 45 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. If you’re not heading to the Super Bowl this Sunday, what are you doing to take advantage of the mild weather?

  • It’s not too soon to make plans with your significant other for Valentine’s Day. On Feb. 11, instead of calling for takeout, bring the one you love to Emily, located at 919 Fulton Street between Clinton and Waverly Avenues, for some pizza-making fun. For $120 per couple, you can participate in the “Be My Valentine” couple’s  pizza-making workshop. The Clinton Hill restaurant opened last week, funded by a $15,000 Kickstarter project to bring wood-fired pies and other Italian delicacies to the nabe. For more information on the event, email pizzalovesemily@gmail.com or call (347) 844-9588.
  • On Wednesday, head down to Barclay’s Center for Amnesty International’s Bringing Human Rights Home concert. The show, which is in its 25th year, aims to bring awareness about human rights to the new generation. Madonna will host the concert and will introduce the recently freed members of Pussy Riot to the crowd.  The Flaming Lips, Lauryn Hill, Cake and more will perform at the benefit. Tickets for the 8 p.m. show can be purchased online.
  • On Wednesday, Feb. 26, 57th State Assembly Female District Leader Renee Collymore will host a town hall meeting on public safety at Pratt Institute in Higgins Hall. Commanding Officer Scott Henderson of the 88th Precinct, Capt. Maximo Tolentino of the 84th Precinct and 77th Precinct Community Council President James Caldwell will discuss “Are We Safe on Our Streets?” The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at located at 1 Saint James Place, on the corner of Lafayette Avenue.
