Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.

It might have been gray outside yesterday, but today should be just the opposite. We’ll see sunny skies all day, with temperatures hanging around the upper 50s, according to the National Weather Service.  There’s still a chance of rain later this week, but until then, it’s blue skies and brisk breezes. What plans do you have for the weekend, neighbors? Let us know in the comments.

  • Open seats for Pre-K classes in Fort Greene will double next year, reported DNAinfo. The city’s expansion of free early-education programs is set to kick in, meaning that more spots will be available at P.S. 20 and P.S. 287. Applications are due April 23 and slots are open for any children who will turn four in 2014.
  • Looking for some new art to spruce up your home? Stop by the Baguetteabboutit! Café tonight for the opening reception of a new show by local artist Rich Lebenson. He’ll be selling a variety of original works, which will be on display at Baguettabboutit! until the end of May. The party starts at 5:30 p.m. at 270 Vanderbilt Avenue.
  • The Civil Rights Act turns 50 this year. Tonight, New York Times editor Clay Risen will hold a conversation with artist and historian Nell Painter about the act’s history and the struggle to pass it through Congress. Copies of his new book, “The Bill of the Century: The Epic Battle for the Civil Rights Act” will also be on sale. The evening starts at 7:30 p.m. at Greenlight Bookstore at 686 Fulton Street.
