The Day: A CB2 Land Use Meeting, Upcoming Concerts and a Chance to Help Save a Life

Warmer temperatures continue today, according to The National Weather Service. If you’re out in the neighborhood today, take some pictures and post them to The Nabe’s Flickr group.

  • Community Board 2 is holding its Land Use Committee meeting tonight at 6 p.m. at the Dibner Building of the NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering, located at 5 Metrotech Center. The meeting will be held in Room LC400. The meeting will include an application from Greenberg Traurig, LLP to renew the special permits approved in 2009 for construction of a new building at 470 Vanderbilt Avenue, as well as applications for other construction and renovation permits.
Help save a life by donating blood and enjoy some delicious baked goods. The New York Blood Center will be parking a bus mobile outside the bakery this Friday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 366 Myrtle Avenue, according to the Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership. Bring identification with your photo and birthdate, and be sure to eat beforehand!
  • The ’90s are back at the Barclays Center! The Amnesty International Human Rights concert series, which originally ran from 1986 to 1998, will be making a comeback next month, reported The Brooklyn Paper. Cake, Lauryn Hill and The Flaming Lips will among the performers at the Bringing Human Rights Home concert on Feb. 5. Tickets start at $66.
  • Composer Ennio Morricone will be performing in Brooklyn for the first time ever on March 23 at the Barclays Center, reported The Brooklyn Reader. The movie soundtrack composer, who won awards for the soundtracks for “The Good, The Bad and the Ugly” and “The Untouchables”, will also be making a rare public appearance at BAMcinématek on March 22 for a screening of “Once Upon a Time in the West,” for which he won a Grammy Award.
