The Day: Carnivals, Bake Sales and Bedtime

Just when you thought the rain was over, Mother Nature decides April didn’t have enough showers to bring May flowers. The forecast calls for a chance of rain this weekend in the nabe, according to the National Weather Service, so don’t forget to pack that umbrella just in case. - Rain or shine, P.S. 38 will offer a day of family fun this Saturday during its second annual Spring Carnival. There will be bouncy houses, a giant slide, pony rides, face painting, games, sports clinics, live music, food, raffles and more. Admission is free, but unlimited play wristbands are $15 until this afternoon and $30 day of the carnival. Individual tickets for food, drinks and activities start at $2. The festivities take place from noon until 5 p.m. at 450 Pacific Street.
- On May 3, a team of NYC food bloggers and bakers are getting together to bake a difference for No Kid Hungry. The bloggers will bring their treats to Fort Greene’s Brooklyn Flea, at 176 Lafayette Avenue, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. All proceeds from the sale will benefit No Kid Hungry, a national nonprofit organization working to end childhood hunger in the United States by 2015.
- Today starts the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s newest kid-friendly production: Bedtime. The show is intended to help little ones get to sleep easier – watching pillows sprout wings and sheets becoming flags. The production is staged by Spanish education company, Katarsis. Children are encouraged to wear their pajamas to the show, which will run today, Saturday and Sunday at BAM.
