Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.

With Black History Month just around the corner, some locals may wonder how they can help commemorate the occasion. American Opera Projects and Irondale Ensemble Project have an answer with their co-produced Kickstarter campaign to fund “Lines of Freedom” – two musicals meant to help renew dialogues about slavery. Do you know another way we can celebrate Black History Month in the nabe? Let us know in the comments.

Here’s more news to start your day:

  • A Jay-Z concert at the Barclays Center may have got rave reviews in the New York Daily News, but at least one neighbor of the arena was not pleased with the music, according to the Atlantic Yards Report. Although officers did respond to the 311 request, they “determined that police action was not necessary,” according to the noise complaint report.
  • The Landmarks Preservation Commission will vote today on landmarking the 88th Precinct Station House in Clinton Hill, Brownstoner reported. Community Board 2 has previously voted down landmarking the building, a Romanesque Revival style structure built in 1890, noting that the NYPD first needs to find a new home for the precinct.
  • Fresh off a bid to turn part of Long Island College Hospital into apartments, the Brooklyn Hospital Center has come a long way since its bankruptcy in 2005, the Brooklyn Paper reported. If the hospital wins the bid, it plans to keep some LICH services open while building 1,000 mixed-income apartments units.
