Covenant Ballet Theatre Saved!

The Covenant Ballet Theatre of Brooklyn (CBTB) will keep on dancing. The New York Daily News is reporting that the theater met its goal of raising $19,000 through their Fund Anything internet campaign.

When we last reported on the status of the theatre, which was in desperate need of funds following their need for new facilities, Donald Trump of all people kicked in a generous $2,500. The CBTB had to give up its 3,500 square foot home on 2085 Coney Island Avenue and vacate by May 31. Thankfully, with the cash they need in hand, they can cruise into new facilities and keep their unique school for dance running in Southern Brooklyn.

Artistic Director Marla Hirokawa thanked the community for their support.

“The community support has been incredibly moving. Most of them are alumni or family of alumni, and to touch base with them this way after so long, it is extremely encouraging and gratifying,” Hirokawa told the Daily News.

Congratulations to the CBTB and best of luck in all their future endeavors!

UPDATE: (August 16, 2013 at 10:28 a.m.): The address for the new home of the CBTB is 4119 Avenue T on the corner of Hendrickson Avenue, sharing the space with the Dance Spot owned by Mona Freeman.
