Cortelyou Road Taco Truck Stolen

Taco Truck on Cortelyou at E 16th

The taco truck that’s usually parked on the corner of Cortelyou and E 16th Street was stolen on Friday from its nearby after-hours parking spot, reports NY1.

Rogelio Gonzalez and his sons Jose and Giovanny, who live in the neighborhood and own the Tacos Mexico truck, have filed a police report but are just hoping to recover the truck, no questions asked.

Judging from the number of readers who emailed to let us know about the crime, the neighborhood is really missing the beloved taco truck. We hope it turns up soon, and will let you know about any updates!

If you spot the truck, contact the 70th Precinct at 718-851-5511.

  1. Whether it is a truck or a cart it shouln’t have been left parked on a residential street overnight. Most of the carts are parked indoors in rented spaces. If they had obeyed the law they wouln’t have been victimized and we’d have 1 less grand larceny in the 70.

  2. They were clearly VERY hard working and I’m heartbroken that they have lost their business. Does anyone know how to get in touch with them to donate?

  3. Well in that case could it have simply been towed? I guess they probably would have checked that possibility before calling NY1.

  4. This is very sad news. Also sad, but not nearly as important, is the NY1 reporter’s mangled pronounciation of “Cortelyou.”

  5. Actually, the reporter’s pronunciation is actually closer to the correct original (french-sounding) one than the usual “Core-tell-you”…
