UPDATE 6:45pm: Police have identified the body discovered yesterday in the Marine Park Creek as that of Brian Gewirtz, a 20-year-old man with autism who was reported missing by his family on February 17. Gerwitz, whose family noted his love of parks in their requests for help locating him, had been last seen two days earlier walking from his Coleman Street home, only about six blocks from the Marine Park Golf Club.

According to the Facebook page set up during his disappearance, the family will be holding a press conference this evening — we will update with any any information we learn.

Our deepest condolences to his family and friends.

EARLIER: A decomposing body floated into a creek at the Marine Park Golf Club (2880 Flatbush Avenue), marking the third corpse found along a Jamaica Bay shoreline this week.

Cops responded to the golf club at approximately 5pm, after a supervisor discovered the corpse in a creek on their grounds. The creek connected to the Marine Park salt marsh and the larger Jamaica Bay system.

The medical examiner is investigating the cause of death, reports both the Daily News and New York Post.

In Far Rockaway on Monday, neighbors called police after stumbling across human remains stuffed into a duffle bag.

On Sunday, three teens discovered the partial skeletal remains at Calvert Vaux Park in Bath Beach, which borders Gravesend Bay and also connects to Jamaica Bay. A police search found more human remains of an unidentified person who appeared to be chopped up and dumped in the water before washing up.
