A Bensonhurst man who arrested as he tried to burglarize Astoria Bank (2241 65th Street) over the weekend told authorities that the break-in was just too easy.

Lance Sbarra, 24, of 15th Avenue, was charged burglary, criminal possession of stolen property, and resisting arrest on Sunday, May 8, at around 1:24am, according to the NYPD.

Cops say they responded to a 911 call and spotted Sbarra exiting the bank. He had apparently only accessed the storage area and told officers that “the door was open.” He had bank documents in his possession

Sbarra’s story may check out as there was no damage to the door, according to police. He has no prior arrests.
