Cops Looking For 4th Of July American Flag Thief

This 4th of July was a little less patriotic outside of several Windsor Terrace homes after a thief allegedly snatched the owners’ American flags.

Police say that on Friday, July 4 at about 5:30am, a man rode up on a bike and took the flags from homes around Sherman Street and 10th Avenue, removing each from its pole, and then rode away.

Neighbors told 1010 Wins that nearly a dozen flags were stolen, some large and some small, including one that was presented to a family by a by a man who had been stationed in Iraq.

A home surveillance video, seen above, shows the suspect in the act, wearing jean shorts, a bandana, and carrying two backpacks.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website or by texting your tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then entering TIP577. The NYPD says all calls are confidential.
