Construction Starting at 190-192 E 5th Street
Construction is moving, finally, at 190-192 E 5th Street at the corner of Caton Ave, where a new low-rise residential building will soon go up.
The lot was under contract back in September, and this is the first action we’ve seen. A crew of three were running a portable generator and erecting poles inside the chain link fence.
They were also drilling holes in the sidewalk on E5th Street, presumably for poles.
Our search through city records show a plan for a new building was approved on 1/29/2013 and zoning alterations were filed soon after that, for a three-story, six-family dwelling with a cellar.
Add this to the school construction down the block and the two revived projects on Caton Place (22 Caton Pl and 23 Caton Pl), and we have four buildings going up in this area of Kensington.
