Con Ed Warns of Possible Brownouts

Word from Twitter is that neighbors around Park Slope (also Clinton Hill, Carroll Gardens, Fort Greene, Windsor Terrace, Bed-Stuy, Greenpoint, Williamsburg, Sheepshead Bay, Marine Park, Gerritsen Beach, Midwood, Flatbush, East Flatbush, Gravesent, Bensonhurst, and Bath Beach, so I guess we’re all in this together) are getting robo-calls from Con Ed warning of brownouts in the area.

According to Patch, the electric company is having  “problems on electrical equipment.” While they fix the issue, they’re reducing the power supply to much of the borough by 5%, which means possible service interruptions for folks in the (apparently expansive) affected area.

Brooklynites who’ve been hit with the message have been advised to “conserve electricity and turn off all non-essential electric equipment” — A/C included — and to report outages by calling 1-800-75-CONED. Based on the outage map, things actually look okay in the neighborhood, although who knows how meaningful that is.

Anyone gotten the call? Or worse?
