Columbus Day Activities For Kids Around Ditmas Park

Looking to keep school-less kids busy this Columbus Day? If you’re planning to stick around town, here are some cool local options for children and families this coming Monday, October 14:

Kick some butt at Urban Martial Arts. Although main activities are from 9am-4:30pm, you can drop off as early as 8am and pick up as late as 6pm. Kids four years and older can play games, take a karate class, complete art projects centered around the theme of courtesy, and more. Admission is $99 per child and $75 per additional sibling. 965 Coney Island Avenue (between Webster and Newkirk Avenues), 718-287-5500.

Enjoy Prospect Park. The Audubon Center is free, and will be open 12-4pm, as is the Lefferts Historic House, open from 12-5pm. The carousel will be open 12-5pm with $2 admission, and the Tennis Center will be open 7am-11pm. And if you’re planning to picnic or BBQ at the park, make sure to follow the rules.

Visit the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. It’s not normally open on Mondays, but Columbus Day is the exception. From 10am-6pm, check out the Oak Circle and Knit, Purl, Sow, plus sunflowers and other plants in bloom.
