CIA Traffic Update

Week six: Anyone notice any changes to the double parking, work on cars, and other things obstructing a lane of traffic on Coney Island Avenue? No? Me neither.

I sent all of the previous posts and a link to the SeeClickFix issue to the 66th Precinct Community Council, but have not heard back from them yet.

This stretch is also the edge of Councilmember Mathieu Eugene’s district, and his office tells us they’ve reported this problem to the 66th Precinct a few times, but that they’ll check with them again to see what progress has been, or can be, made.

Thanks to alsivi for continuing to send photos, despite, as he says, “seeing zero effort on the part of the NYPD. Zero, zip, nada.”

If you think it’s a problem–if you have been stuck in a long line of traffic that can’t move around these obstructions, if you’ve tried to ride your bike around them, if you just think it’s unsafe–here’s how to do something about it:

• Call the 66th Precinct Community Affairs office at 718-851-5601 and express your concern.

• Contact Community Board 12 at 718-851-0800 and urge them to help.

Vote for the SeeClickFix issue (there’s a “vote” button on the top right) and add a comment there as well.

Report blocked streets and sidewalks to 311, either by phone or online.

• And email us pictures–we’ll keep posting them until something changes.

Finally, with all this rain we’ve been having, how can we not mention this other obstruction on CIA? This puddle practically engulfs the sidewalk and all of the curb outside of the C-Town and Greene Roofing. There’s got to be a way to fix this, right?
