CHiPS is a local community organization whose focus is to feed the hungry in their soup kitchen as well as sheltering homeless women and their children. They’ve been supporting Park Slope, Gowanus, and other surrounding neighborhoods since 1971.

CHiPS will be hosting their First Annual Spring Fundraising Gala on Wednesday, April 6, which they’ve billed as their biggest fundraiser for the entire year.

The gala will take place at The Green Building (452 Union Street at Bond Street) tomorrow night between 7-10pm.

The event will honor Council Member Brad Lander, who secured a $950,000 grant for CHiPs to own and operate both the soup kitchen and Frances Residence for the past 25 years.

“I’ve been proud to support CHiPS throughout the last 20 years of my career – and I am deeply honored that they are recognizing me at their first annual gala,” said Lander.

The ticket price provides vital funding for the the organization, which serves up to 250 meals a day. Lander describes those who contribute their time as “a small staff and a huge group of dedicated volunteers bring their cooking skills, love, and creativity to offer a welcoming, caring and respectful environment to anyone who needs food.”

You can either purchase tickets via their website or choose to make a donation should you not be able to attend the event.

The event promises live jazz, cocktails, wine, beer and delicious bites from some of the top restaurants in the neighborhood, in the elegant Green Building.

We hope to see all of you there!
