Change Is Afoot At Former Choice Greene Space

We noticed passing by 214 Greene Avenue (between Grand Avenue and Cambridge Place) yesterday that the storefront has been emptied of most traces of Choice Greene, and renovations are underway for the Choice crew’s forthcoming raw seafood restaurant and bar.

A Choice Market employee told us while nothing is set in stone, the restaurant could open as soon as the end of September. At that time, neighbors can look forward to lobster and crab rolls, sandwiches and cheeses, and, of course, lots of shellfish–plus beer, wine, and cocktails, and nearly 70 seats (with “a lot of leather”) spread throughout the restaurant and back patio area.

The restaurant will be one of three new eateries to open in about a block and a half radius later this year–Mekelburg’s will bring beer and light fare around the corner on Grand Avenue, and The Finch will serve farm-to-table dishes next door at 214 Greene.
