If you live within the confines of City Council District 44, get excited–this week, you can help Councilmember David Greenfield spend $1 million in discretionary funds through Participatory Budgeting. All district residents 16 and older are welcome, regardless of immigration status or whether they are registered to vote with the Board of Elections–just bring a form of ID that shows where you live. Here’s what’s on the ballot this year:

  • Rewire PS 134‘s electrical system to support air conditioning on the third floor ($200,000)
  • Upgrade PS 99‘s electrical system to support lighting and technology upgrades ($400,000)
  • Beautify Borough Park blocks with 100 new trees ($170,000)
  • Street resurfacing throughout Borough Park ($300,000)
  • Installing fountains and benches in Borough Park’s Gravesend Park ($150,000)
  • Obtain new computers and other technology upgrades at the Ryder, Mapleton, and Midwood Library branches ($200,000)
  • Flashing overhead warning lights for a B/Q subway overpass in Midwood ($200,000)
  • Street resurfacing throughout Bensonhurst ($300,000)
  • Street resurfacing throughout Midwood ($300,000)
  • Installing fountains and benches in Midwood’s Kolbert Park ($150,000)
  • Installing fountains and benches in Midwood’s Colonel Marcus Park ($150,000)
  • Installing fountains and benches in Bensonhurst’s Seth Low Park ($150,000)
  • Beautify Midwood blocks with 100 new trees ($170,000)
  • Beautify Bensonhurst blocks with 50 new trees ($85,000)
