Burning Smell Envelopes Ditmas Park
Neighbors from all over the area are reporting a burning smell that has become considerably more pungent over the last hour. An exact source has not been found but it may be caused by downed wires or transformers.
“We are seeing a large number of fires caused by down wires and electric fires,” said Mayor Bloomberg in a press conference at 10 p.m. Countless emergency vehicles are driving through the neighborhood attending to downed trees, wires, transformers and other damage caused by the storm.
