Progress? Windows, Bricks & a Roof

We spend so much looking at the street level of this block of Coney Island Avenue between Ave C and Cortelyou Road, we’ve missed the progress on this apartment building there, which has been under construction for years. Applications to do work to the second floor and to add the third floor were originally filed with the Department of Buildings in 2006.

Neighbor Ann Simkins spotted it over the weekend and noticed that bricks, windows, and a roof seem to have sprung above the scaffolding. According to the DOB filings, the second floor, which had been residential, will be converted to commercial.

If you haven’t seen it lately, you might be more familiar with the concrete slab it’s been for some time, as this Google street view shows.
