Victim Hospitalized in East 17 St Attack
A neighbor on the Ditmas Park Listserv is reporting an assault on East 17th between Dorchester and Ditmas tonight.
A young man was mugged tonight at about 8 p.m. on East 17th, [a neighbor] heard the young man screaming for help and shouted are you okay.
The two African American kids about 18 years old, who were attacking him, ran off. They called 911 and an ambulance came within 5 minutes and the police arrived about 3 or 4 minutes later.
Neighbors say his phone seemed to be the target, which they say did not end up being stolen. But it seems unclear exactly what caused this assault, but this is a good time to remind the neighborhood of Deputy Inspector Rodriguez’s advice to be extraordinarily careful with your electronics. Smart phones are top targets for thieves.
