Bring Supplies for Rockaway to Flatbush Development Corporation Today
The Flatbush Development Corporation’s Executive Director Robin Redmond, whose home in Rockaway was flooded up to the ceiling of the basement, is doing okay, all things considered. “We’re all alive and safe, and that’s all that matters,” she told us this morning.
She is back at the FDC office at 1616 Newkirk between East 16th and East 17th Streets today, and if you can bring some supplies to the office, she will take them back to her neighbors tonight. Robin says that there are FEMA stations set up in the area, but her area is about one mile between either site, and with no way to get around, that’s not so helpful. The things that are needed most by her neighbors are batteries, flashlights, bottled water, cleaning supplies, and socks.
Do not, however, bring any clothes. “They’ve got piles of them in the parking lot of the police precinct, and nothing to do with them,” she said.
