The bomb squad and other emergency vehicles flooded the intersection of 5th Avenue and 10th Street in Park Slope after a witness discovered a “suspicious object” on the street earlier this afternoon, a police spokesperson said.

The bomb squad arrived at the scene at approximately 12:15pm on Sunday, November 20 to investigate what police described as a “piece of PVC pipe.” Police say the pipe looked as if it had its end “capped” off, which prompted a witness to call 911.

A police spokesperson told BKLYNER the bomb squad deemed the object “safe” approximately 50 minutes later at 1:05pm.

According to cops, the bomb squad suspects the pipe came from a nearby construction site in the area.
