Along with a three-day celebration of Prospect Park’s 150th anniversary, this weekend brings art, dance, cats, and cheese. Don’t miss out!
Kedi
When: Friday, March 31 at 6pm and 8:45pm
Where: Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, 445 Albee Square West, Downtown Brooklyn
What: A documentary on the hundreds of thousands of cats that live on the streets of Istanbul. For centuries the kitties have made their way in and out of people’s lives—”becoming an essential part of the communities that make the city so rich.”

Doug Varone and Dancers
When: Friday – Saturday, March 31-April 1
Where: BAM Harvery Theater, 651 Fulton Street, Fort Greene
What: Doug Varone and Dancers celebrate 30 years of choreography with three works representing the past, present, and future. Their revival of the Philip Glass-scored Possession (1994), inspired by A.S. Byatt’s century-spanning novel—is a portrait of solitude and desire. Varone’s latest work Folded, set to music by MacArthur fellow Julia Wolfe, showcases the interplay between two dancers falling in and out of sync. And in ReComposed, dancers perform to Michael Gordon’s Dystopia on a white stage.

Vanya And Sonya And Masha And Spike
When: Friday, March 31 at 8pm
Where: The John Bourne Theater, 26 Willow Place, Brooklyn Heights
What: The Heights Players take on this 2013 Tony Award winner for Best Play. Siblings/roommates Vanya and Sonia live in Bucks County, Pennsylvania where they get on each others nerves until their movie-star sister, Masha, arrives with new beau, Spike, and drama ensues.

Prospect Park 150 Celebration
When: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, March 31–April 2
Where: Various locations in Prospect Park
What: Check out the return of Lola Star’s Roller Disco party on Friday night, 1860s-style baseball on Saturday, an opening day parade and fair, walking and running tours, an evening campfire, and (DRUM ROLL PLEASE) the first Smorgasburg of the spring season. Spruce up on your park history here.

Brooklyn Art Spring Event
When: Saturday, April 1, 6pm to 10pm
Where: Industry City, 233 37th Street, Sunset Park
What: The Brooklyn Art Spring Event (BASE) brings together more than 100 artists to support art education at PS 295—see art installations, buy artwork, eat, drink, and dance.
How Much: Tickets from $35 to $250
Target First Saturday At Brooklyn Museum
When: Saturday, April 1, 5pm to 11pm
Where: Tour the museum’s galleries and take a peek at the Georgia O’Keeffe, Marilyn Minter, and Iggy Pop/Jeremy Deller exhibitions. Catch music by Martha Redbone Roots Project and Queen Godis, a performance by conceptual artist Chloe Bass, pop-up spoken word poetry, and more at this monthly event.

The Serious II: Another night of Friends, Food and Wine (in a cave)
When: Saturday, April 1 from 5:30pm to 8pm
Where: Crown Finish Caves, 925 Bergen Street, Crown Heights
What: Cheeses from Crown Finish Caves will be served along with wine and small plates—in a cheese cave—while Ali Dineen and Joanna Sternberg perform.
