Bite Of The Week: Falafel Sandwich At Pita Pan
Pita Pan Falafel Sandwich

One of the great joys of New York City life is finding a place in your neighborhood where you can get a good, cheap falafel sandwich. Some are, of course, better than others, but for around $4 it’s hard to be undone by a merely “okay” version. Thankfully, we’ve got Pita Pan on 7th Avenue, and theirs is one you might even go out of your way for.

You can order the sandwich in a pita or a wrap, and either way it’ll be completely stuffed with freshly fried chickpea balls, which stay crunchy on the outside and smooth on the inside. They add lettuce, tomatoes, and a creamy tahini sauce (and hot sauce if you want it), and everything is seasoned well. It’s pretty addictive, and at $4.50, if most of what’s inside wasn’t fried, it’d be hard to avoid grabbing one on the way home from work a few times a week.

And though you can get delivery, you should stop in, since the staff is always very friendly and accommodating (and there is seating in case you want to hang out and eat there). The menu goes beyond falafel — for one thing, the Pita Pan burrito is a fun departure, though we keep going back back for the old standby again and again.

Of course, there are a few different options for falafel in the area — is Pita Pan your go-to, or is there another place you prefer?
