Mexico Lindo Y ¡Q’ Rico! Deli (497 Coney Island Avenue between Turner Place and Albemarle Road) has been around for eight years, but it’s one of those places that’s easy to miss. Between a tile place and a health clinic, the storefront obscured by vertical blinds could be dismissed, walking by at night, as your usual bodega–but between its really superb name and its freshly-made breakfast, lunch, and dinner options, it’s worth a second look.

The inside of the restaurant is covered in photos of their dishes, plus prices for those watching their wallets and number of calories for those watching their diets. They’ll deliver orders over $15 for free, but there are are a few tables, too, if you’d prefer to dine on-site.

In addition to the menu items made at the deli, they get bread and pastries delivered from Salem & Sons in Union City–which sounds farther away than necessary, but has only enthusiastic Yelp reviews, so why not?

We recently tried their chicken enchiladas with mole poblano ($9.75), their pork burrito (lunch special, $6.50 from 11:30am-3pm), and their horchata ($2.50).

The enchiladas came with rice and refried beans, and both dishes had gooey cheese and crisp shredded lettuce and tomato. I’m not one of those diehard mole poblano experts, but the sauce was rich and I thought wonderful. The chicken was really nice and tender as well.

The burrito experience was also satisfying–besides being tasty and cheap, the service at Mexico Lindo is really fast and courteous. The pork was flavorful, and it came with awesome green salsa.

The horchata was great, too–not overly sweet, just enough to keep one’s mouth from catching fire. Their tacos also look really good and fresh, but they’ll have to wait for next time. They’ve also got tortas, sopes, breakfast platters and sandwiches, beer, fresh juices, milkshakes and flan, and coffee and tea.
